Scott Allen Barbour, MD
Scott A. Barbour is an avid competitor in both sports and academics. A former All-America college rugby player, he also was selected for the U.S. National Team. He graduated magna cum laude from St. Louis University School of Medicine. Dr. Barbour received his orthopaedic surgery training at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital, where he completed his residency program. During his residency he was fortunate to train under the Tampa Bay Buccaneer’s, and Miami Dolphins Team orthopaedic surgeons gaining tremendous experience in the diagnosis and treatment of sports related injuries.
He then completed his fellowship training in sports medicine at the Palo Alto Medical Foundation, where he worked with the San Jose Sharks Hockey Team, the Oakland Raiders Football Team, and the United States Rugby Team. During his fellowship, he continued to research and develop his skills in the latest orthopaedic surgical techniques.
Dr. Barbour is currently one of the few doctors’ nationwide performing biologic joint surgery for those who suffer from joint pain as well as arthroscopic hip surgery. The advances in medical technology and surgical alternatives featuring biologically-based products to treat joint disorders are leading to better joint reconstruction procedures and shorter recovery times.
Dr. Barbour’s unique experiences as an athlete, combined with his medical training, allow him to expertly meet the needs of both the recreational and professional athlete.
Dr. Barbour also provides service to the community by offering free preparticipation physicals for student athletes and providing medical coverage for high school sports in the community.
